About Translation (By David Carpenter):

Openness to feeling is at the heart translating poetry from one language to another. One can try to keep to the schemata of the original, but this does not always convey the original feeling and that feeling is of the essence. So if a poem is sensual in French, for example, then it should be so in English. Working together, we came up with the bare bones of the poems and it was my job to add nuance.

Sensation by Arthur Rimbaud

On blue summer evenings I‘ll go down paths,
Pricked by the wheat, I will tread the short grass:
Dreaming, I’ll feel its freshness underfoot.
I’ll allow the wind to bathe my bare head.
I will not speak; I will think of nothing.
But endless love will mount within my soul;
And I shall go far, far away, roaming
Through Nature - happy, as with a woman.
